There are more than 50 vegetarian recipes in the new book, and there’s a photo for every recipe in the book (shot at my house in Brooklyn!). We’ve got “Lazy Lunches”, plenty of Sunday soups and braises, and produce-forward dishes for all those market hauls. The second half is for Friday and the Weekend, when time stretches out a bit, and maybe you even have friends around the table. Think quick chops, one-pot pastas, big salads, and a whole chapter called “Burning Clean,” when you need a break from all the eating you did over the weekend! The first half is filled with dishes optimized for Monday through Thursday, when work, school, and commutes shorten the amount of time we can devote to a meal. I separated the 100 recipes into sections based on normal life. I feel we are already at that point with these Patreon/Substacks, and I have no idea how sustainable the business model will be as more and more people go into it.That Sounds So Good was published in October 2021 and was an instant New York Times Bestseller. One of the biggest complaints the last decade has been how many streaming services we have now, and how we pay more than we used to pay for Cable for all the services. I like his writing- except I am used to paying between $1-4 a month for the Athletic and getting a TON of other things i'm somewhat interested in (such as Baseball prospects and MLS coverage), and now i'm being asked to pay more for significantly less. One example is the main writer for the 76ers at the Athletic recently left the Athletic and started a $5/month subscription for his writing.

I think it's also really hard for me to get over the idea that I pay X to something like Spotify and get so much for it, to go and pay half of that amount per month just to get one thing is hard to swallow. And then, a week passes and I've completely forgotten about it and never sub.

So if there is something on a Patreon i'm interested in that posts on the 23rd of a month or something, I go "I'd have to pay again in full 1 week later, let me wait a week". It also doesn't help that Patreon does a thing where it charges you the full price when you sign up and then full price on the first of each month. just having a larger word of mouth.īack when many patreons allowed you to get the paywall content for $1, I was subscribed to a bunch, but now, many have moved that price up to $3 and $5 and it's so hard to justify paying that much for 7 or 8 a people a month so I just ended up canceling them all. it'd allow me to bulk buy easier and save more money and 2. Im not bogged down by instagrams algothium that has decided cos im not popular instantly that it won't show my content, so having people continuing to cheer me on either with comments, £1 or just in it to get rewards helps me to keep trying harder.

Sometimes even just the nice comments are what i need to hear. Also sales for me eb and flow depending on the year, unlike knowing with youtube you will get X amount of ad money per video hopefully.īut for me though Patreon really helps, especially during these quieter months when people are less likely to buy stuff due to xmas etc, i know i have at least some money coming in and at least with some rewards it allows me to make products for patrons but that can also thanks to bulk buying be made for the wider market who may or may not buy it. I draw kawaii graphics and you may have even seen them (see my profile pic as an example) and whilst i have a nice fan base it's an audience that is harder to get joined up to patreon with.

I don't create videos so rewards are harder (they're all physical so cost a lot of money) and promoting patreon to non youtube crowds is tough because if they're not on the platform already, getting people to join, even for £1 a month to show their support is a huge roadblock.

For me it's so tough getting people to join as i am an artist who puts free content onto social media as well as having a web store. As someone who runs a patreon ( here's mine) for their content it's nice seeing people wanting to give symbolic support as well as for rewards.
